I often lament the days of Facebook Events. That calendar was perfect. I could follow the venues I cared about and the algorithm was dialed in just enough to show me the events my friends were going to, after they reliably RSVP'd "yes." That central schedule, which was actually kept updated by venues, was probably the best part of the internet. I miss that internet.
I bring this up because I didn't know these bands (Touch Girl Apple Blossom, Paper Jam) until my friend Zach (@JortySpice / MDR Observer) posted to his Instagram story about this show only the week before, when he realized that he (and like-minded friends) almost missed it. Acting on that ephemeral story with Zach's strong reccomendation reminded me of those salad Facebook days. Though we can hardly rely on Meta products for anything useful in real life now, I got a reccomendation from a friend, RSVP'd "yes" to a Monday night show (symbolically, I put it in the shared calendar my husband and I share), listened to Touch Girl Apple Blossom all week, and got myself out of the house on a 90° night to enjoy live music. It was a delight.
